The Art Expo in Chicago was filled with art with a diverse set of themes and inspiration. Art is much more than a painting: it is a means of expression and a language.
If I could buy a sculpture for school, I would buy Jaume Plensa’s Roots (Study) because I think it is fitting for an educational environment. I found it in the Richard Gray Gallery of Chicago. The sculpture is covered in letters and characters from different languages which connects to learning, which I really liked. I don’t think I saw another sculpture better for school than this one.
If a relative could purchase me a piece of art, I would want this piece called Kaa by the Haas Brothers. It was from the R & Company Gallery from New York, and its price was not given. I thought this golden snake-like creature was interesting, and I really loved the gold in it. I was also intrigued by the texture of the sculpture, along with hexagonal pattern on it. Everything in the sculpture comes together well!
One other piece of art I liked was Choi Jeong Hwa’s Alchemy. I liked how the lights dimmed between on and off and the shape of the structures which looked liked stacked Christmas ornaments.
Finally, I don’t have any suggestions for making a better field trip. I though it was nice that we got to walk around and observe or interact with the art work.
