Kim Sutliff, A Home Within the Words

Used book, 2015

Sutliff uses old books, newspapers, photographs, and magazines to create different pieces of art.

She started off by cutting the pages of the book so that they resembled a tree trunk. Then she created a paper mache bird with the extra scraps of paper and put it on the top of the tree. Finally she cut a hole in the middle of the tree and used extra scraps of paper to make a birds nest.

“Using used, books, old newspapers, scanning old photos, magazine paper and discarded “junk” is incorporated in my art. I feel it gives it some history and interest as well as being good for the environment”.
