Long Bin-Chen

Phonebooks and glue. Started making book-scoultures in 1990’s.

Long Bin-Chen, a New York Artist, “seeks to combine ideas and concepts from the East with those of the west” .

Long Bin-Chen attended school in both NYC and Taiwan, and won many awards between the two schools; MFA, Joan Mitchell award, National Endowment for the Arts.He has displayed his artwork in contemporary museums all around the world.

Long Bin-Chen uses phonebooks when sculpting people (pictured below). This is an interesting choice of material to use because it contains the names and numbers of millions of people, and he uses it to make one person.
