Hearing Others Out, NICK DUARTE

In this project, I was able to complete a sculpture of a detailed microphone symbolizing voice and listening as the microphone is pointed away from the person who is holding the microphone. It is important to acknowledge the value of listening because to only speak would mean really no productive conversation which is what we all need more of. I learned the values of planning down to detail everything before executing and using up limited materials. Using materials wisely can easily apply to any medium or canvas and will be a valuable aspect of the process to keep in mind. I completed the plastering process very well being that I was able to do it very quickly without breaking the plastered hand. What I would do differently next time, would be to add more aestheticism to the final product by either painting the plastered hand or the soap sculpture itself. A more complex sculpture next time would also be a step further I would be interested in taking.
